In 1995, the Labour Court rejected claims by twelve ambulance drivers over a new roster agreed between the Southern Health Board and SIPTU. The 12-week schedule added an evening crew and extended some day shifts. The workers said weekend work had increased and they were losing about £1,650 a year in overtime. The Board said the roster reduced on-call cover and provided shift and premium payments. The Court recommended the roster agreement, finding it reasonable in the circumstances, particularly because it involved increased employment. The recommendation was signed on 28 February 1995.
