In 1994, the Labour Court recommended further talks on a 3% PESP claim and revised sick-pay terms at Blarney Woollen Mills, following claims by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The Court said the parties should examine a cost-neutral way to implement the 3% increase. For sick leave, it recommended 20 days in the first three years and 30 days in any year thereafter, and that the union accept the amended scheme. The recommendation followed a hearing in Cork and was signed on 15 December 1994. The company employed about 129 workers at its Blarney shop and stores dispatch.
