In 1994, the Labour Court recommended reinstating all dismissed Irish Country Meats workers as a basis for resuming normal working, subject to their commitment to use agreed procedures and cattle in the lairage being killed on the day of receipt. The recommendation was signed on 12 July 1994. The Court also recommended that management deal with disputes promptly, that company and union engineers jointly review disputed work standards and set targets, and that bonus earnings be calculated using those agreed standards and targets. Any shortfall caused by target adjustments was to be paid to the workers. It cited the parties’ history of good industrial relations and urged them to follow agreed procedures without contrary action. The union was the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union.
