The Labour Court did not recommend conceding Mandate’s claim for an enhanced redundancy payment for a former cleaner at the Incorporated Law Society. The recommendation was signed on 6 July 1994. Mandate argued that the employee’s redundancy and 24 years of service entitled her to payment under the Society’s six-weeks-per-year formula. The Society said an earlier agreement and Employment Appeals Tribunal decision had settled matters connected with her retirement, and that she had received her statutory entitlements. The Court found that the Society had not acted unreasonably in the circumstances.
