The Labour Court recommended that United Cinemas International and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union seek acceptable arrangements on pay and employment conditions under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress. The recommendation was signed on 11 February 1994. The union sought a 3% increase, saying workers earned less than staff at other major cinemas and had provided flexibility and productivity. The company said it was loss-making and already provided service pay and an incentive scheme. The Court recommended that both sides seek arrangements that would benefit workers and the company.
