The Labour Court recommended that O'Carolan Clothing Limited pay £500 compensation to a machinist whose employment it ended after about six weeks. The recommendation was signed on 27 January 1994. The company said her performance was unsatisfactory and that warnings had not improved her work. The worker rejected that account. She said she had eight years’ experience in the clothing industry and had left permanent employment to take the job. The Court particularly took account of her resignation from her previous employment when recommending compensation.
