In 1993, the Labour Court recommended that Akzo Coatings Limited offer a worker a £1,500 salary increase, effective from 1 February, in full settlement of his pay claim. The Court found his salary remained low by the company’s internal standards, with no continuing objective reason for that position, and noted he had achieved the performance required for an earlier offer. It rejected the union’s external pay comparisons. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union represented the worker. The recommendation was dated 12 October 1993.
