The Labour Court recommended against the Amalgamated Engineering and Electrical Union and Technical Engineering and Electrical Union’s claim to retain three fitters per shift in Cadbury Ireland Limited’s C Block. The recommendation was dated 23 September 1993. The unions said a new bagging machine required a third fitter. Cadbury argued existing staff could cover it and retaining an extra fitter per shift would cost £75,000 a year.
