In 1993, the Labour Court recommended in favour of Cantrell And Cochrane (Dublin) Limited in its dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union over whether a production agreement covered weekend overtime. The recommendation was dated 22 July 1993. The union said the agreement applied only to Monday-to-Friday work and that any change to weekend overtime had to be negotiated. The company argued that the plan was negotiated as a seven-day agreement. The Court found the company’s interpretation correct and upheld its position.
