In 1993, the Labour Court recommended that Power Supermarkets Limited not concede the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claims for three security controllers. The recommendation was dated 15 February 1993. The claims covered pay incorporating shift and bank holiday payments, a meal allowance and a travel allowance. The union argued the work involved specialist duties and sought improved payments and allowances. The company said the workers had competitive all-inclusive salaries and the claims conflicted with P.E.S.P. The Court found the case was subject to P.E.S.P. and did not recommend conceding the union’s claims.
