In 1992, the Labour Court recommended that Fujitsu Microelectronics Ireland Limited keep its existing public-holiday payment arrangements for rotating-shift staff. It found the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had not established a compelling case for changing them. The recommendation was signed on 20 November 1992. The union sought 12 hours’ pay or time off for workers rostered off on a public holiday, and double time plus 12 hours’ pay or time off for those rostered on duty. The current arrangements provide eight hours’ pay or time off for rostered-off workers, and double time plus eight hours for workers on duty.
Labour Court rejects union claim for higher public-holiday pay at Fujitsu
