Labour Court recommends £75,000 settlement in Containers and Pressure Vessels dispute

In 1992, the Labour Court recommended that Containers And Pressure Vessels Limited pay £75,000 in full settlement of the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim concerning a former personnel manager made redundant in March. The recommendation was signed on 13 November 1992. The union had sought his reinstatement and compensation after an earlier Labour Court recommendation found he had been treated unfairly. The company said it had no suitable alternative position and had increased its offer to £64,000. The Court cited the difficulties of the case and the time since the redundancy in recommending the lump sum.
