In 1992, the Labour Court rejected a pay-parity claim by the Marine Port And General Workers Union for 10 sales representatives at Flogas Ireland Limited. The recommendation was signed on 8 April 1992. The Court found the claim was not well grounded in the circumstances and recommended discussion with workers and representatives if the company decided not to replace staff. The union argued that the representatives' pay lagged behind a comparator company's scale. Flogas cited its incentive and profit-sharing schemes, market conditions and differences between the businesses. The decision recorded top salary figures of £19,919 at Flogas and £26,989 at the comparator in October 1991.
