The Labour Court recommended that Teagasc and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union agree and implement an appeals procedure for grades awarded under a job evaluation scheme. The recommendation was signed on 26 February 1992. The union referred the matter back after the parties failed to agree on an appeals mechanism. The Court distinguished an appeal against a grade awarded under the scheme from a claim to regrade a post already assessed. It noted difficulties with grading and considered the scheme should let employees appeal their awarded grades; such a procedure had been proposed.
