The Labour Court recommended that Bull Information Systems Limited recognise the Manufacturing Science Finance Union and give it negotiating rights for staff who were union members. The recommendation was signed on 21 January 1992. The union said 17 of 22 customer-services staff were members and sought recognition and a procedural agreement. The company opposed formal recognition, preferring managers to speak directly with workers.
