The Labour Court recommended that Roadstone Provinces Limited pay £750 to each of three readymix truck drivers in a dispute over annual leave arrangements. The recommendation was dated 16 December 1991 and set the payment from 1 January 1992 alongside the holiday arrangements in the company’s comprehensive agreement. The drivers’ union, Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, said a long-standing call-out arrangement compensated drivers who worked during their holidays and sought £1,000 each to end it. The company disputed that a written agreement existed and argued the arrangement was excessive. The Court recommended the drivers accept the agreement’s holiday arrangements and the company make the once-off payments.
