The Labour Court conceded the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim that staffing light stations at Irish Glass Bottle Company Limited was outside the 1988 manning agreement. Its recommendation was signed on 23 October 1991. The dispute concerned whether two workers covering light stations, where defective products were identified, counted within the agreed 20 sorters per shift. The company had rejected the union’s interpretation that light-station staffing should be additional to that number.
