In 1991, the Labour Court recommended no concession of Two Workers’ claim for bonus payments after they declined to join the Paypath system. The recommendation was dated 23 October 1991. The workers preferred payment by postal draft and argued they should receive the same payments as colleagues. Bord Telecom Eireann said the agreed productivity package linked its remuneration benefits to participation in Paypath. The Court said employees could choose whether to join Paypath, but found that employees seeking the package’s lump-sum benefits had to accept all its elements. It recommended no concession of the claim.
