In 1991, the Labour Court recommended changes to the Comprehensive Agreement covering 30 checkers at Dublin Cargo Handling Limited, following a dispute with the Marine Port And General Workers Union. The recommendations included a £32.50 weekly attendance-bonus increase, service pay rising from £4 to £6 a week, amended productivity measures and staffing levels, and urgent talks on checker duties and replacing staff. Subject to acceptance of the amended agreement, it recommended a £500 lead-in payment and a further £500 about six months later. The recommendation was signed on 9 October 1991.
