The Labour Court recommended that Turnex Limited withdraw one clause from its proposal for the first phase of the PESP pay agreement and discuss two others with the Service Industrial Professional Technical Union. The recommendation was dated 19 June 1991. The union sought the agreement’s 4% pay increase from 1 March, while Turnex sought a pay freeze, citing difficult trading conditions. The Court said the polarised industrial relations climate was not conducive to settling disputes and urged the company to use progressive proposals.
