In 1991, the Labour Court did not recommend conceding the National Engineering And Electrical Trade Union's claim for higher basic rates for three maintenance craftsmen and a supervisor at Harp Textiles Limited. The recommendation was signed on 18 June 1991. The company said maintenance pay was covered by the Woollen and Worsted Industry J.I.C. agreement. The union argued that pay lagged behind industry rates and that the workers seldom received overtime. The Court found the staff were covered by the agreement and suggested the union discuss its representation at industry negotiations with employee representatives on the J.I.C.
