In 1991, the Labour Court recommended that The Island Golf Club pay a cleaner compensation equivalent to ten weeks’ earnings plus two weeks in lieu of notice after accepting her submission that she had been treated very shabbily. The cleaner said the Head Cleaner had suggested she use a helper and had not told her to stop. The club declined to attend a Rights Commissioner’s investigation and sent no representative to the Court hearing. The recommendation was signed on 13 February 1991.
