Labour Court recommends talks on Penneys’ Rathfarnham working arrangements

In 1991, the Labour Court recommended that Penneys and the Irish Distributive And Administrative Trade Union negotiate working arrangements, particularly hours, for the Rathfarnham store. The Court found the Registered Agreement did not apply to the store, though earlier negotiations appeared to proceed on that assumption. The dispute followed Penneys’ proposal for four flexible full-time posts, which the union opposed. The recommendation was dated 16 January 1991.
