The Labour Court recommended that Noonan Contract Cleaning Limited’s offer on rates and conditions for part-time cleaners at Cavan General Hospital be accepted. The recommendation was signed on 12 July 1990. The rate was to rise to £3 an hour from 1 November, while other conditions would remain pending negotiations on a national structure. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought improved pay and conditions, including £3.20 an hour, a shift allowance, better leave and other terms. The Court said extending Dublin conditions could disadvantage the company in future Cavan tenders.
