In 1990, the Labour Court recommended that Print Craft Computer Print Limited raise its proposed weekly increases for two folding-machine operators to £13 and £15, backdated to the first pay week of October 1989. The Court said it was not convinced a separate machine rate was appropriate. The recommendation was signed on 11 June 1990. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought an additional rate, arguing the new machines required more adjustments and skill. The company said the equipment made the work simpler and had offered personal weekly increases of £10 and £12.
