The Labour Court recommended that Independent Newspapers PLC and the Irish Print Union meet the system's technical designers to consider a monitoring terminal for photosetter output. Pending those talks, the Court recommended that management ensure overseers refrain from work proper to other operators. The Court said the system could not separate prioritisation from activating output, so the union's claim based on former practice could not be implemented. The recommendation was signed on 14 September 1989.
