The Labour Court recommended extending the lashing increase to £10 and covering lashings at Cherbourg, in a dispute between Irish Ferries and the Seamen's Union Of Ireland. The Court said the union's 15% basic-wage claim was disbarred by the Programme for National Recovery. It found no grounds to uphold the pursers' claim and no sustainable case for improving repairmen's pay. The recommendation was signed on 8 September 1989.
