In 1989, the Labour Court did not recommend changing the redundancy scheme applied by Dublin Cargo Handling Limited to a docker/driver employed by the company and seconded to Storecon Limited. The Marine Port And General Workers Union sought an additional £8,820, arguing that the worker’s Storecon weekly rate of £214 should have been used instead of Dublin Cargo Handling’s £155 rate. The Court noted that the worker had applied for and accepted the voluntary scheme, albeit under protest, and found no grounds to change its application. The recommendation was signed on 18 August 1989.
