In 1989, the Labour Court recommended that Bowmaker Bank pay a 4% increase, instead of 3.33%, for a satisfactory performance rating. The increase was to take effect from implementation of the next salary review. The recommendation was signed on 23 June 1989. The Irish Bank Officials' Association had sought a structured salary scale and automatic progression. The bank proposed performance-related reviews, and the Court considered its proposals reasonable, subject to the higher increase for a satisfactory rating.
