In 1989, the Labour Court did not recommend conceding a claim by the Psychiatric Nurses Association and the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union for compensation for five tutorial staff who lost Sunday overtime. The Eastern Health Board changed the rota from alternate Sundays to one Sunday in four from 1 June 1988. The unions said the lost premium earnings affected the staff’s pay and pensions; the Board cited financial constraints. The recommendation was signed on 16 June 1989.
