The Labour Court recommended a £100 lump sum for 11 drovers at Purcell Exports Limited for the year to 31 March 1988. It also recommended revised public holiday and fall-back holiday arrangements. The recommendation was signed on 7 June 1989. The Amalgamated Transport And General Workers' Union sought conditions closer to those of regular dockers, including improved pay and holidays. Purcell Exports Limited said the drovers worked casually for about 20 to 25 days a year. The Court did not recommend concession of the other claims.
