The Labour Court recommended that Brinks Allied Limited pay £200 to each of ten cash-in-transit workers in full and final settlement of their claim over a reduced Christmas bonus. The recommendation was signed on 7 June 1989. The Irish Transport And General Workers' Union said the workers had been led to expect the former bonus would continue after a merger. Brinks Allied Limited said the new contract made no provision for a Christmas bonus and its one-week-pay bonus was adequate. The Court said the contract was silent on the issue and recommended compensation in the interest of good industrial relations.
