Labour Court rejects craftworkers’ pay claim but finds agreement breach

The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Amalgamated Engineering Union’s pay claim for about 30 craftworkers at Adtec Teoranta/Adtec Aer Auto. Its recommendation was signed on 15 May 1989. The Court found the company had breached its agreement with the union by raising one worker’s rate without negotiation, and strongly recommended that it follow the agreement in future. But it said the wider pay claim was excluded by the Programme for National Recovery and that the company’s proposals should be accepted.
