The Labour Court recommended that about 40 workers represented by the Irish Transport And General Workers Union accept Newbridge Cutlery Limited’s offer on a productivity-related pay claim. The recommendation was signed on 21 March 1989. The Court considered management’s offer reasonable in light of the company’s financial position and the dispute over how productivity should be measured. It also recommended that the parties agree a measurement basis and carry out the work alongside a work measurement study.
