Labour Court upholds Nissan Ireland appeal against pay differential recommendation

The Labour Court upheld Nissan Ireland Ltd’s appeal against a recommendation for a pay differential for a worker who supervised higher-paid employees at Dublin Docks. The decision was signed on 21 March 1989. The Court found the worker’s incremental salary scale was unrelated to the former assembly workers’ historically based pay, and that his salary would eventually exceed theirs. The recommendation for staged salary increases and a permanent £20 weekly differential therefore did not stand.
