In 1988, the Labour Court recommended reducing a Dublin Corporation worker's disciplinary suspension from one day to half a day. The recommendation was signed on 22 December 1988. The Court considered the original half-day suspension justified but found the extra half day added on appeal unwarranted. Dublin Corporation's Irish Municipal Employees' Trade Union had sought to challenge the longer penalty.
