In 1988, the Labour Court recommended that Milverton Quarries Limited pay £250 compensation to a worker dismissed after three weeks. The recommendation was signed on 25 October 1988. The Court said he had been seriously disadvantaged after leaving a long-held job for one he considered permanent and was likely to be unemployed for some months. The worker said the job involved more driving than he expected, that he had not received enough training and that he was dismissed without notice. Milverton Quarries Limited did not attend the Labour Court hearing.
