Labour Court recommends Contract Cleaners pay £500 to settle driver dispute

In 1988, the Labour Court recommended that Contract Cleaners Limited pay £500 to settle a dispute over compensation for a driver’s dismissal. The recommendation was signed on 14 March 1988. The Federated Workers Union of Ireland and Irish Women Workers Branch said the dismissal was unfair and that the company had agreed to pay the sum. Contract Cleaners Limited denied making that agreement and said the dismissal followed accidents and absences. The Court considered the failure to pay the agreed amount largely a misunderstanding and recommended payment without further delay.
