The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Irish Transport and General Workers’ Union’s claim for a pay increase for nine service parts attendants at Thermo King Europe. The recommendation was signed on 4 December 1987. The Court said the job evaluation showed only a small increase in points and that the agreed grading scheme had no intermediate rates. The union argued that changed work practices justified a pay rise; the company said the score did not reach the threshold for a higher grade.
