The Labour Court recommended that a restaurant worker await Graham O'Sullivan Limited’s promised wage review in May 1987. If the Irish National Union of Vintners, Grocers and Allied Trade Assistants was not satisfied, it could resubmit its claim. The recommendation was signed on 7 May 1987. The union sought better wages and conditions for its member, saying she was paid £2.25 an hour against a cited catering rate of £2.71 and seeking £3.40 an hour. Graham O'Sullivan Limited said a workforce-wide review would take effect from the week beginning 25 May 1987 and declined to attend the hearing.
