Labour Court recommends Dunnes Stores adopt union rota for three staff

The Labour Court recommended that management at Dunnes Stores implement the Irish Distributive and Administrative Trade Union's proposed rota for three office staff at the Stillorgan branch. The recommendation was signed on 24 April 1987. Dunnes Stores had changed the long-standing rota in 1986 without consulting the workers. The union said its alternative would meet the company's security requirements and avoid a backlog of work. The company did not attend the hearing. The Court said its absence did not help its consideration of the case and, with no evidence to the contrary, considered the union's proposal reasonable.
