Labour Court does not recommend Hallmark Cards regrading claim

In a recommendation signed on 12 February 1987, the Labour Court did not recommend the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union's claim to regrade six operatives at Hallmark Cards (Ireland) Limited. The Court said no additional skill or effort warranted extra payment after new machinery reduced the packing team from nine workers to six. The union argued the remaining workers were doing work previously done by nine operatives. The company said changed packaging specifications had not increased output or required extra effort or skill.
