In 1987, the Labour Court recommended that A.B.S. Pumps Limited increase the allowance for two spray painters to 5.50%, from 1 December 1986, for as long as they used the present type of paint. The Irish Transport and General Workers Union had sought a 7% allowance, citing the working conditions and a change in paint. The Court also recommended that the union accept that the increase, if implemented, would not form the basis for a claim to adjust wage relativities. The recommendation was signed on 13 January 1987.
