WRC recommends €7,000 to settle worker’s disputes with former employer

The WRC recommended that an employer pay a worker €7,000 to settle disputes arising from his employment and its termination. The recommendation was dated 11 November 2025. The worker said management threatened to dismiss staff if they discussed missing written terms with a visiting client. The employer accepted it had not provided written terms, denied making the threat and said the worker was among staff made redundant when workshop work ceased. The adjudication officer found the employer responsible for local management actions and said the missing terms had contributed to conflict. He accepted that the redundancy was genuine and that last in, first out was applied fairly. Payment or agreement to pay was due by 1 December 2025, unless the parties agreed another date.
