The Workplace Relations Commission recommended that an employer pay a worker €3,000 after finding local management discouraged her from making a formal grievance and failed to address her concerns. The recommendation was dated 21 April 2026.
The worker said she had repeatedly raised concerns about her supervisor and felt unsafe working with him, but remained rostered alongside him. The employer said she had not used its grievance process while employed. It later investigated her complaints, partially upheld them and recommended changes to promotion procedures and training.
The adjudication officer found the worker had raised concerns informally and believed her manager had escalated them. The manager had not done so and discouraged a written complaint. The officer upheld the worker’s complaint and recommended €3,000 compensation, taking account of the employer’s later investigation and the worker’s own behaviour.
