WRC recommends employee pursue public-service complaint and grievance procedures

The WRC recommended that an employee use an available public-service complaints process and exhaust her employer’s grievance procedure before returning her dispute to the Commission. Adjudication Officer Christina Ryan dated the recommendation on 3 July 2025. The employee believed she had completed the internal process. The employer said she could still complain under section 8 of the Code of Practice for Appointment to Positions in the Civil and Public Service and use its grievance procedure. The WRC found those options remained available and said the dispute was not well founded because the procedures had not been exhausted; the merits were not decided. It recommended that she pursue both routes.
