The WRC recommended that an employer pay an employee €3,000 compensation for distress caused by failures in its grievance process. The recommendation was dated 3 November 2025 and recorded an agreement reached at the hearing. The employee’s grievance concerned procedural failings from 2020 to 2022. A grievance hearing took place on 25 July 2024, but no outcome letter followed despite repeated requests. The employer acknowledged the failure to issue the letter, apologised for process breakdowns and agreed to send an apology letter by 6 November 2025. The adjudication officer recommended the agreed apology letter and €3,000 compensation for distress. The recommendation specifies that the payment is compensation, not remuneration.
