WRC recommends €2,000 for worker dismissed during probation

The WRC recommended that a recruitment agency pay a worker €2,000 after dismissing her during probation. The recommendation was dated 16 December 2025 and followed her dismissal after nine weeks as a client services coordinator. The worker said she lacked training and support and had not been told what performance issues to address. The agency said it had raised concerns about her caseload and arranged extra training, but concluded she was not suited to the demanding role. The adjudication officer said the worker should have been told about the concerns and given an opportunity to address them before dismissal. The recommendation was for compensation equivalent to about four weeks’ pay.
