WRC recommends steps to resolve kitchen porter’s workplace dispute

The WRC has recommended that the employer described as Catering Company address A kitchen Porter’s workplace dispute by completing a grievance appeal if she filed one, providing workplace policies in her preferred language and meeting with her. The recommendation was dated 27 January 2025. The worker said conflict with a colleague caused her stress and that she felt discouraged from making a formal grievance. The employer, which did not attend the hearing, said in a written submission that she had raised a grievance, returned to work and had not lost earnings. The adjudicator found some merit in the dispute concerning the worker’s unresolved workplace vulnerabilities, but noted that key grievance documents and policies had not been provided.
