The WRC recommended that an employer pay a worker €1,916.66 for failing to implement its grievance procedure after she raised concerns about her manager. Adjudication Officer Conor Stokes dated the recommendation on 13 November 2024. Stokes found that the worker had invoked the informal Dignity at Work procedure by speaking to her manager and the HR Director, but no further action was taken. He also found that dismissal during probation without advance notice was permitted by the worker’s contract and the company handbook; she received a week’s notice. The recommendation called on the employer to review and explain its complaint procedures, train HR staff and establish clear reporting lines.
